Dr. Joseph Chris Yearego is a West Virginia Native. Born in Wheeling and raised in Clarksburg. He graduated Washington Irving High School. After attending West Virginia University, Dr. Yearego moved on to the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. There, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1991. During his senior year at SCO, he had externships with Larry Williams, OD in Buckhannon, WV and the US Army at Womack Army Hospital in Fort Bragg, NC. During the externship at Fort Bragg, he helped mobilize our troops heading to Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
Dr. Yearego’s first job after graduation was working for Dr. James A. Genin, MD in Clarksburg. He opened Mountaineer Vision Center in Morgantown, where he stayed for ten years. Prior to coming to Regional Eye, Dr. Yearego was self-employed in Elkins for 17 years. Dr. Yearego practices comprehensive optometric eyecare. His areas of interest include contact lens fitting, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. Dr. Yearego resides in Bridgeport with his wife, Julia and their two children – Sarah and Daniel.
